New Website – Create Mess

I have some news! I am moving to CreateMess.com! Please change your bookmarks, and head on over.

Why The Change?

When I started Carlie.me, I really was needing a change. I have been blogging for years and years, and I felt like I needed a place on the web that was just for me, a fresh start, and about nothing in particular.

In true Carlie style, this blog morphed into something more. It became something bigger, and I felt that carlie.me no longer felt right.

Create Mess

Let me share a secret – For a while I have wanted to start my own crafty business. I love blogging, I love art, and I love teaching. I have wanted to bring these facets of me all together and make a career out of them.

I feel that the name “carlie.me” does not reflect exactly what I wanted to portray. So, after some brainstorming, I decided to go with “Create Mess”. My desk (room? house? shh!) is always messy. But really, what I mean is that I don’t want to be afraid to create a mess, and I want to inspire others to make a (crafty) mess too!

I hope you will follow me across to CreateMess.com, and please let me know what you think of the change! I am still working out the kinks, but it is mostly all systems go! I hope you will be excited as I am for this new beginning.

Keeping On Top of Projects – Month of Me Week 2

Here are the Month of Me week 2 prompts, then below I will share how I keep on top of month-long challenges/projects like this.

The Month of Me is a project where we celebrate ourselves! Each day follow along with the prompts and create a mini album that is all about you and your daily life.

How To Get Through That Mid-Project Slump

It is just about half way through April, which means that the prompt section of the Month of Me is half way through. The first week of being excited on a new project is over, and now is where it gets hard. It would be so easy to give up right now! I know, I’ve done it before.

So how does one get through this slump and keep excited? Read more

Scrapbook Layout – Hot Pot

Hot Pot 01

Hot Pot is the layout that sits next to this Korean Food layout in my album. I wanted the two layouts to be stand-alone layouts but also similar. For that, I did some things similar on both layouts. I matted both of the background papers with cardstock, and the background papers are bright and multicoloured. On both pages I also used a bow that is from the Crate Paper Oh Darling ephemera pack. Also, on this page I wanted to use the flair because the spots on it tie it to the background of the other page.

Here is my process video for this layout:

Sweet Home – Scrapbooking Layout

Sweet-Home-Japan-bottom-large

I love this layout. It started off as a response to Dannielle Brown‘s 150 subbie giveaway challenge (who, btw, now has almost 400 subscribers!). Her challenge was to use pink, mint and yellow on a layout.

For me, I had just been on a pink, blue and teal binge, and I have always been a person who thought “I don’t like yellow.” I still don’t like yellow in clothing or decor, but my goodness am I now a lover of yellow on scrapbook pages. I really love how this page came together!
